Before I joined the Masterworks Student Orchestra (formerly CCHO), I wanted to quit playing violin. I was frustrated by the fact that I had no one that I could connect with as a homeschooler and a musician. The Masterworks Student Orchestra changed that. During the two years that I played with the orchestra, I had the opportunity to create beautiful music with other homeschool students who shared my passion. I created strong friendships, gained valuable experience in playing with an orchestra, performed many challenging but exciting musical works, and had a lot of fun. My experience in MSO inspired me to embrace my talents and instilled a great love for music, which are two of the reasons why I will be pursuing a career in violin performance. I will always look back on my memories of the Masterworks Student Orchestra with fondness.

We have enjoyed many interesting activities in our years of homeschooling, but the [Masterworks] student orchestra has definitely topped the list! It is a unique, wonderful opportunity for instrumental students to use what they've studied and practiced to make music with an encouraging group. My daughters grew in ways they could not have through individual lessons and recitals. They enjoyed the camaraderie of the orchestra and the challenge of playing in a group. We also appreciated the chance to visit and play for local nursing homes.

I spent 3 years as a pianist for the Masterworks Student Orchestra (formerly the CCHO), and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The pieces for which I played the piano ranged from challenging to simple, and all were excellent. The weekly practices taught me valuable sight reading and time keeping skills, which I still use frequently in my own independent practice 3 years later. Perhaps most importantly, I experienced first-hand the joy of making music with many others. The fun and value of playing with other musicians is exquisite, elegant, and exciting. I highly recommend the Orchestra to any musician, regardless of their instrument.

The orchestra led by Mrs. Susan Kroeker has been our favorite extracurricular activity we have participated in as a homeschool family. Both of my girls progressed tremendously with their instruments. The orchestra challenged them while maintaining an enjoyable atmosphere. I would highly recommend this orchestra!

I joined the orchestra five years ago. I am so, so glad I made that decision! Being a part of the orchestra was one of the best times I have had. I made new friends and spent time with great people, my practice schedule became more consistent, and my music skills improved. Mrs. Kroeker is an amazing conductor, and I am so excited to join the orchestra again this year!
